Porter's Rare Heritage Turkeys

                "Porter Calico" Turkeys

This is my own strain of tricolors that I call "Porter Calico", I first developed these back in the early 1990's.They have a Royal Palm base pattern with the addition of a rich orangish-red coloration. They are a much paler colored bird than the sweetgrass types, which have a slightly different genotype.

Genotype: (b1b1cgcgngngRr) Black winged bronze based with palm, narragansett and a single recessive red gene.

Unfortunately with their genetic makeup they can't breed completely true, Besides calicos they also produce Red Palms and Royal Palms which will breed true.

Poult color at hatch is basically yellow downed with or without a gray/black smudging down the back. All three varieties look  identical at hatch.  Mature Weights:Toms 22 lbs. Hens 12 lbs.
