This is yet another new variety.
We have basically developed a brown version of our Mottled blacks.
Our f-1 birds are already developing a few real nice spotted feathers. These birds are in their first year of age so they have not yet reached their maximum spotting potential.
The amount of spotting a bird gets will increase after each moult, reaching their maximum spotting potential by their third year, just like our mottled blacks.
Each white feather has small to large random brown spotting. We expect them to breed around 75% true to color/pattern, they will also produce Chocolate Palms and Marbled Chocolates, but the majority of the offspring should be Mottled Chocolate.
They are mainly black based with gray, brown and narragansett modifying genes. Some can also carry a single black winged bronze gene.
We are working to eventually get them to a true breeding homozygous genotype of BBcgcgee/e-ngng/ng- , black based with gray, brown and narragansett genes.
Mature weights: Toms 30 lbs. Hens 15 lbs.
